Half Double Crochet Stitch (hdc)

This stitch is halfway between the single crochet stitch and the double crochet stitch in height.

1. Begin with a foundation chain, wrap the yarn over (yo) the hook and insert the hook into the third chain from the the hook.

2. Draw the yarn through the chain, leaving three loops on the hook. Yarn over (yo) and draw through all three loops on the hook, leaving one loop on the hook. One half double stitch complete (hdc).

3. Continue along the row, working one half double crochet (hdc) into each chain. At the end of the row, work two chains to turn. Skip the first stitch and work a half double crochet (hdc) into each stitch made on the previous row. At the end of the row, work the last stitch into the top of the turning chain.

Where was this when I was two weeks to delivery with my first son! I came up with the idea to teach myself how to crochet to pass the time before my little man came into the world.

I can't tell you how many times I threw the hook at the television.

Your blog is really beautiful.

Popped in from SITS.

xx
