Afghan hook

is for working Tunisian crochet
(also called the afghan stitch),
which forms a fabric, similar to a knit.
Because stitches are worked onto the hook in one row, then off again in the next, this tool has a uniform diameter and a knob at one end to keep stitches from sliding off. Made of aluminum or plastic.
