Scallop Edging



I find this in 200 crochet blocks for blankets, throws and afghans by Jan Eaton

Scallop Edging



  • Foundation chain: Ch 5

  • Foundation Row: (wrong side) (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) into 5th ch from hook, turn

  • Rows 1 & 2: ch 3,(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) into ch 3 sp, turn.

  • Row 3: ch 5, (3 dc, ch , 3 dc) into ch 3 sp, turn.

  • Row 4: ch 3, ( 3 dc, ch 3, 3 ch) into ch 3 sp, ch 2 (1 dc into ch 5 sp, ch 2) 5 times, (1dc, 1 sc) into next ch 2 sp(space), * sl st into next ch 2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc into same sp; rep(repeat) from * 3 times, 1 sc into next ch 2 sp, ch 3,(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) into next ch 3 sp, turn.

  • Row 5: Ch 3,( 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) into ch 3 sp, turn.

  • Row 6: Ch 5,(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) into ch 3 sp, turn.

  • Rep rows 4 to 6 for desired length, ending with a fourth row, starting instructions after working 1 sc into ch 2 sp.

  • Do not break yarn.

  • Turn eding so RS (reverse side) is facing and scallops are along the bottom edge, and start working across top of edging.

  • Next Row: *Ch 3, 3 sc into each sc of previous row, working 3 sc into each ch 3 sp; rep from * to end, working last 3 sc into top of beg(beginning) ch 5, turn.

  • Next Row: Ch 1, 1 sc into each sc of previous row, working 3 sc into each ch 3 sp, turn.

  • Next Row: Ch 1, 1 sc into each sc of previous row.

  • Fasten off yarn.
